High Eye (www.higheye.com) is a scale-up, that designs and manufactures combustion engine propelled unmanned helicopters (UAVs, UAS, RPAS or drones). The product of High Eye is the Airboxer, a Long-Range unmanned helicopter with endurance of 4 hours. The Airboxer serves a worldwide niche market where, among others, Navies, Coast Guards, Border Control units, Search and Rescue organizations are active. Employees with various backgrounds joined the company, to ensure a wide range of knowledge from aviation regulations to aerospace to automotive engineering and electronics. The team worked on the development of the new Airboxer model for 5 years, the first units will be delivered in 2024.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled UAV Integration Engineer with expertise in networking, electronics, communication protocols, 3D designing, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of UAV technology. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in integrating a variety of systems, including Radio Frequency (RF) technologies, cameras, GPS, embedded systems, and power electronics, to create cutting-edge unmanned aerial vehicles. Your skills in fast prototyping, troubleshooting, and collaboration within international teams will be instrumental in achieving success.

 

Responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for the integration of UAV systems, including networking, cameras, RF systems, antennas, payloads, and power electronics, to ensure seamless functionality and optimal performance.
  • Apply your experience with communication protocols such as RS-232, RS-422, RS-435, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB, ETHERNET to establish robust data exchange between interconnected components.
  • Leverage 3D printing techniques for fast prototyping and efficient manufacturing of UAV parts.
  • Integrate and optimize embedded systems within UAV platforms, including navigation systems, sensors, and control units, to enhance overall functionality.
  • Apply expertise in power electronics to ensure efficient energy management between the UAV sub-systems.
  • Optimize the integration of various payloads, ensuring compatibility and efficient operation.
  • Apply strong troubleshooting skills to address complex issues that may arise during the integration and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to find practical solutions to technical challenges.

 

Your profile:

  • MBO level 4 or Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
  • Proven experience on system integration with a focus on networking, cameras, electronics, and 3D designing.
  • Hands-on experience with fast prototyping activities and assembling/disassembling complex systems.
  • Strong understanding of RF technologies, antennas, embedded systems, and power electronics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to test and validate new concepts.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with international teams and effective communication across different cultures.
  • Excellent communication in English (speaking and writing), and Dutch is an advantage.
  • Willing to travel abroad.
  • Proficiency in 3D designing tools such as SolidWorks is a big advantage.
  • Programming skills, preferably in Python or/and C/C++ is an advantage.
  • Experience with technical projects for governments and Defense industry is an advantage.
  • Living and working permit in the EU is a MUST.
