Extending maritime situational awareness
Navies and coast guards operate across large maritime areas where persistent information is critical.
TOP Engineering Group selected the HEF 32 to provide long-range unmanned ISR capability for maritime missions across Asia.
With its compact footprint and ship-focused design, Airboxer enables operators to add aerial capability without requiring the infrastructure of traditional aviation assets.
The challenge: operating UAVs from vessels
Deploying unmanned aircraft at sea introduces unique challenges.
Limited deck space, harsh weather, salt exposure and high levels of electromagnetic interference require a platform specifically designed for maritime environments.
For naval and coast guard missions, operators need a system that combines endurance, reliability and safe integration with existing vessel systems.

The solution: HEF 32 for shipborne ISR missions
TOP Engineering Group selected the HEF 32 because of its ability to support long-range maritime operations from compact vessels.
The system provides operators with the flexibility to perform BVLOS missions while maintaining a small operational footprint for storage and deployment.
Mission applications include:
- Maritime ISR operations
- Search and rescue (SAR)
- Oil spill detection
- Offshore infrastructure inspection
- Wildlife monitoring
Built to survive the sea
The HEF 32 was developed with maritime operations as a core design requirement.
Corrosion-resistant materials and protective coatings enable long-term use in saltwater environments, while IP67 protection supports operations in challenging weather conditions.
High-grade EMI protection allows operation alongside tactical vessel systems, including radar equipment. Different antenna configurations can also be integrated to support BVLOS missions without interfering with the vessel’s RF environment.
